State of the Union Address

"Some in this chamber are new to the House and the Senate -- and I congratulate the Democrat majority. (Applause.) Congress has changed, but not our responsibilities. Each of us is guided by our own convictions -- and to these we must stay faithful. Yet we're all held to the same standards, and called to serve the same good purposes: To extend this nation's prosperity; to spend the people's money wisely; to solve problems, not leave them to future generations; to guard America against all evil; and to keep faith with those we have sent forth to defend us.We're not the first to come here with a government divided and uncertainty in the air. Like many before us, we can work through our differences, and achieve big things for the American people. Our citizens don't much care which side of the aisle we sit on -- as long as we're willing to cross that aisle when there is work to be done. (Applause.) Our job is to make life better for our fellow Americans, and to help them to build a future of hope and opportunity -- and this is the business before us tonight."

In this section of the speach the President makes the point that we as a nation, and the Congress must come together to solve America's problems. I agree with this statement, we need to stop pointting the finger at each other and just deal with our problems as a whole.

"Extending hope and opportunity in our country requires an immigration system worthy of America -- with laws that are fair and borders that are secure. When laws and borders are routinely violated, this harms the interests of our country. To secure our border, we're doubling the size of the Border Patrol, and funding new infrastructure and technology. Yet even with all these steps, we cannot fully secure the border unless we take pressure off the border -- and that requires a temporary worker program. We should establish a legal and orderly path for foreign workers to enter our country to work on a temporary basis. As a result, they won't have to try to sneak in, and that will leave Border Agents free to chase down drug smugglers and criminals and terrorists. (Applause.) We'll enforce our immigration laws at the work site and give employers the tools to verify the legal status of their workers, so there's no excuse left for violating the law. (Applause.)"

In This statement the President is talking about the illegal immigration problem, he says that we should have a more relaxed border. i disagree with this, i think we need to go to a more extreme messure. Let the immigrants know that we mean busiess, and that if we find illegal immigrants that we're not just going to drop you off right over the border.

"It's in our vital interest to diversify America's energy supply -- the way forward is through technology. We must continue changing the way America generates electric power, by even greater use of clean coal technology, solar and wind energy, and clean, safe nuclear power. (Applause.) We need to press on with battery research for plug-in and hybrid vehicles, and expand the use of clean diesel vehicles and biodiesel fuel. (Applause.) We must continue investing in new methods of producing ethanol -- (applause) -- using everything from wood chips to grasses, to agricultural wastes."

I agree with the President 100% on this statement. We need to become more independent as a nation when it comes to our fuel. And the only way that is going to happen is by researching alternitive fuel sources.

William Taft

Distinguished jurist, effective administrator, but poor politician, William Howard Taft spent four uncomfortable years in the White House. Large, jovial, conscientious, he was caught in the intense battles between Progressives and conservatives, and got scant credit for the achievements of his administration.
Born in 1857, the son of a distinguished judge, he graduated from Yale, and returned to Cincinnati to study and practice law. He rose in politics through Republican judiciary appointments, through his own competence and availability, and because, as he once wrote facetiously, he always had his "plate the right side up when offices were falling." But Taft much preferred law to politics. He was appointed a Federal circuit judge at 34. He aspired to be a member of the Supreme Court, but his wife, Helen Herron Taft, held other ambitions for him.

Atomic Bomb

The A-bomb is the most powerful weapon that the human race has ever created. the A-bomb has more power that 100 tons of dynamite. The first bomb ever dropped on an enemy was called the Little boy which was dropped on Hirishima. In one of the testings two bombs were dropped. the first above water and the second was placed under water. the one under water was much much bigger. Felix was a U.S. nuclear physist who sold blueprints to the Russians. After the Russians got the nuclear bomb the U.S. opened the Nevada proving grounds. They started to put Trinium in the middle of the bomb which made the bomb twice as big. "The Big One" was the largest bomb ever dropped by the U.S. . it left a crater 1.2 miles in diameter.
