      The office of President of the United States is one of the most widely criticized offices in the world. It appears that no matter what party the President is from, he is treated with severe dislike by his opposition. However, the office is one of great dignity and responsibility and it should be viewed and treated with respect. But exactly how important is the office of President of the United States? I believe that the issue may be addressed by first grasping the responsibility of the office.
      First, the President is the Chief of State of the government of the United States. He is the symbol of all the people of the nation. Former President William Taft once said that the President was “the personal embodiment and representative of their [the people’s] dignity and majesty.” As the Chief of State of the United States government, the President reigns and rules over the land. The President is also the Chief Executive of the United States, and as such he is responsible for enforcing the law written in the Constitution and by Congress. In addition, the President is the Chief Administrator of the Federal Government. As the Chief Administrator, the President controls and leads one of the world’s largest governmental machines.
      The Executive Office of the President includes personnel who directly support or advise the President of the United States and are not members of the Cabinet. Examples include the White House Press Secretary, the Office of Presidential Communications, and White House-based Presidential policy and legal advisors, including those focused on domestic, social, foreign and national security policies of the federal government of the United States.
      The President is not as important as most people think. they can only do what is laid out in the constitution and most of the things need to be aproved by congress.
      The Constitution defines presidential functions, powers, and responsibilities. The president's chief duty is to make sure that the laws are faithfully executed, and this duty is performed through an elaborate system of executive agencies that includes cabinet-level departments. Presidents appoint all cabinet heads and most other high-ranking officials of the executive branch.
